There’s been one product in particular that’s been knocking around the men’s cosmetic cauldron for quite some years now and that is Lab Series’ BB Tinted Moisturizer, containing an SPF35 level of sun protection. Despite not stocking this product currently on our online shops, I do feel it’s important to give you guys an honest and frank review of this product, as I have personally used it every now and then over the years. Lab Series are a brand owned by Estee Lauder and whilst there is a feel of reduced quality mass production surrounding the brand, I’m delighted to say that this has been avoided with this BB Tinted Moisturiser for men.

The first thing I’d say is that this product does exactly what it says on the box. It does offer really good levels of moisture, albeit not all day. If you’re looking for all day hydration, you may have to apply this two or three times, which sometimes results in my skin feeling greasy. What I would suggest as a little trick of the trade is apply this product after the application of a good quality men’s daily moisturizer and almost use like a foundation to even your skin tone and blur away any mild blemishes.

I do remember applying this product for the first time back in 2013, at that time, I did have quite a few spots across my forehead. The first thing I remember of note is how much healthier my skin looked, Those little red marks, blemishes and areas of bumpy skin did in fact banish and before my night out, I did feel so much better. However, for the larger spots I had at that time, this product didn’t really cover them up as much as I’d like them to, which is why I still had to deploy the use of a concealer. Remember, if you are interested in this product, make sure you opt for a darker colour concealer, for example MMUK MAN’s N7 concealer stick, just to make sure they both blend together naturally.

A couple of my mates with different skin types have also used this product and it has in fact worked well for them too, making this quite a universal product, regardless of your skin construction. I love that it contains a high level of sun protection, however, most blokes I know will only use this on a night out, rather than in the day time, as too much can look a bit unnatural in daylight. Go easy with application, because you certainly don’t want to look as though you’ve been tango’d!

My Lab Series BB Tinted Moisturiser review doesn’t stop there and there are quite a few things that are also well worth a mention: This product does illuminate and enhance my complexion, contributing to an even tone and texture after application. Does it promote the regeneration of my skin and enhance its own natural skin evenness? No! So, if you’re looking for something that will, I’d suggest going for a normal BB cream and re-build your skin’s refinement over time.

I did find that along with my refined pores and brighter skin surface, my skin looked less saggy and tired, massive factors if you’re a man beyond 30 looking to invest in some serious skin care. Overall, I’d give this product an 8/10, raising the question, despite its quality, is it worth nearly 40 quid? My answer would be no! There’s a couple of products out there, in the form of MYEGO's Fonteint and Recipe For Men's Energizing Bronze Cream that will do the same job at a fraction of the price, but if you don’t mind spending more and want fuller coverage, then there will certainly be no repercussions in choosing Lab Series.

It does combine really well with other cosmetic products for men and slotting this into your bathroom regime will definitely enhance your appearance!
